Dance Trapeze
With Sarah Poole
Let’s explore the multidimensional movement possibilities that dance trapeze offers! Aerial Dance Trapeze celebrates an ease of movement on the ground, in the air, and through the magnificent spaces in between. This class will focus on process; finding how we as collaborative individuals discover and assemble sequences of movement on and with the trapeze in order to make our own phrases and work. That takes time, courage, and lots of laughter.
Beginning from developing conscious awareness of balance points and safety, we’ll explore specific skills in the ropes, on the bar, around the bar, under the bar, and on the ground. Using structured improvisation, movement puzzles, and periods of work and feedback, we will work towards integrating movement and stillness, dynamism and softness, using all parts of the apparatus and the floor, creating as we move. You will leave this workshop with tools to continue developing your own work on dance trapeze.
